German Dolls

German dolls dominated the doll and toy market for a century.  China head dolls were very popular from the mid 1800’s and into the 1930’s. 

Most antique German dolls were had a bisque socket or shoulder heads on ball jointed bodies, cloth bodies or leather bodies. Quality and prices ranged widely with the skill of the maker and his staff.  In order to have something for everyone, German dolls also came in celluloid, tin heads and composite heads.
