French Fashion Dolls – background
French Fashion dolls were dolls made beginning in the 1850′s and ending in the 1890′s when the German doll market came to be the leading doll producer in the world. The hay-day of French Fashion dolls was in the 1870′s – 1880′s where they dolls were best known because they showcased the elaborate high-class fashions of the day and often had extensive wardrobes and accessories made of the finest fabrics and laces. The majority of French Fashion dolls have bisque heads, glass eyes, and leather bodies. The bodies were hour-glass in shape with ample posteriors to show off fashion to advantage. French Fashion dolls were often very detailed with fine porcelain head and large blown glass eyes. Hairstyles were elaborate and their leather fingers were defined as well as the toes on their feet.

Fabricated in medium weight satin fabric, this Princess style dress features a lace breast panel, and ruffled eyelet border (panel lace vary to stock on hand). Straight princess style with wide sash attached at side seam for gathering in back (bustle effect). Dress lined in 100% cotton. A matching bonnet is also available.
