American Ball Jointed Doll

Rare American ball jointed doll needed restoration. The doll arrived in pieces from the original family.  The doll was made in America in an effort to compete with the German market.  American doll makers made these ball jointed dolls for only 3 short years 1918 -1921 so they are hard to find. Considered a rare doll, this 19” black ball jointed American child doll is marked on back shoulder plate TREGO Made in USA  She is made of wood and paper mache, rather than the typical American composition dolls. Her head is made of paper mache like the inexpensive German ball jointed dolls.
